How to photograph clothes for Vinted and other resale sites
Updated 2026-10-26
The first photo decides whether someone taps your listing. You don't need a studio, just good light and a few habits.
Light
Daylight from a window is the easiest good light. Stand with the window beside you, not behind the item. Avoid the ceiling lamp in the evening: it makes colours yellow and adds hard shadows.
Background
A plain wall, a door or a clean floor works. Keep the same background for all your items, so your shop looks tidy.
Six photos that answer most questions
- The cover: the whole item, straight on, worn or on a hanger.
- The back.
- The brand tag.
- The size and care label, sharp enough to read.
- A close-up of the fabric, print or best detail.
- Any flaws, clearly. It builds trust and prevents returns.
Worn or flat?
Worn photos show the fit and often get more interest. Flat photos are good for measurements: lay the item flat and photograph it with a tape measure.
Small things that matter
- Steam or iron out creases first.
- Fill the frame with the item, and keep the camera straight.
- Don't use heavy filters. Buyers want the real colour.
- Take all the photos at once, then write the listing.
