How to price second-hand clothes

Updated 2026-10-26

Price too high and nothing happens. Price too low and you give away your profit. These steps help you land in between.

1. Look at sold items, not asking prices

Anyone can ask any price. What matters is what similar items actually sold for. On Tradera you can filter on ended, sold items. On Vinted, look at many similar listings in the same condition and notice which ones disappear quickly.

2. Compare like with like

Same brand, same type of item, same size range and similar condition. A rare colour, a sought-after model or a popular era can lift the price. Wear and flaws lower it.

3. Leave a little room

Many buyers send an offer. Set the price a little above what you are happy with, so you can say yes to a fair offer.

4. Count your costs

Write down what you paid for the item. Your profit is the sale price minus what you paid, the site's fees and any shipping you cover. When you know your profit per item, you see which brands and sources are worth your time.

5. Lower slowly if it doesn't sell

If an item gets views and likes but no sale after a couple of weeks, lower the price a little. If it gets no views at all, the photos or the title are usually the problem, not the price.
